Culture VS. Violence
This site was built to keep track of signatories to the Cultural Workers' Statement (dated August 20 2017) against the drug war killings and the culture of violence in the Philippines.

With almost a thousand signatures after 24 hours gathered solely through social media and word-of-mouth, it was important to have a better platform to showcase the growing number of cultural workers in film, theater, television, literature, visual arts, social sciences, communications, education, advertising, and music who are now taking a stand against Rodrigo Duterte's war on drugs, its implementation, and contingent body count.

To sustain the resistance from the cultural sector, we're also promoting pertinent events from the many groups calling to #StopTheKillings, and featuring various cultural works that stand fearlessly against the current state of brutality.

We hope to encourage all cultural workers to continue to stand against this culture of violence. Because while the blood is being shed on our streets, and what this will ultimately require is a show of strength out on those streets as well, the battle against this state of affairs is also undoubtedly cultural.

And who better to fight this battle but cultural workers like us?
